An Important Meeting Held to Accelerate the Technology Skills Development Program for secondary School Students

Hargeisa – Somaliland, 27 September 2025

The Innovation Center of the Ministry of Communication and Technology of the Republic of Somaliland today hosted a high-level meeting aimed at accelerating the Technology Skills Development Program for secondary  school students.

The meeting was officially opened by the Deputy Minister of Communication and Technology, Mr. Maaliki Abdi Hassan, with the attendance of the State Minister of Education, Nurturing and Science, Mr. Mohamed Yusuf Ibrahim (Faacuul), the Director of the Innovation Department of the Ministry of Communication and Technology, Ms. Suleekha Isxaaq Cumar, and the Director of the secondary Schools Department of the Ministry of Education, Nurturing and Science, Ms. Fadumo Geelle.

The purpose of the meeting was to strengthen the program for enhancing technology skills among secondary school students. The program, jointly implemented by the Ministry of Communication and Technology and the Ministry of Education, Nurturing and Science, aims to build students’ digital skills, create future job opportunities for them, and equip them with employable skills.
Mr. Maaliki Abdi Hassan highlighted the importance of this training, which students have shown strong interest in. He called for greater efforts to expand the program across all regions so that students may benefit and gain employable skills.

on the other hand, Mr. Mohamed Yusuf Ibrahim (Faacuul) emphasized that this is a national task that requires continuous collaboration. He stressed the need to meet with high school administrations to ensure that students secure jobs through the skills they acquire. He urged both ministries and their partner organizations to further strengthen their cooperation.

This program will enhance students’ abilities in modern technological skills and help them gain employable skills while still in school. It will significantly contribute Somaliland’s vision of building a generation that is technologically prepared for the future.
