Building Digital Skills Capacity for government employees
Governments worldwide have increasingly focused on ICT for development (ICTD). As with these governments, the Ministry of ICT has adopted a policy of developing the ICT sector in order to boost the efficiency of government services and economic growth. Since ICT skills are the key to good governance by providing an effective, efficient, accountable, and transparent administrative system for any service, the Somaliland Innovation Zone is launching an employee ICT capacity-building project that will benefit all government agencies. The project will go on through the year 2022.
The purposes of training include developing the nation’s ICT role; promoting government staff skill level; creating ICT infrastructure to provide better service; and reducing ICT skills gaps between government agencies to adapt to ICT transformations. So far, ministries including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Health Development, and the Ministries of Education and Science have benefited from this training.
